Project overview
To set up a project you need at least:
- Something looking like a need,
- A team,
- A budget,
- Any of other stuff you wish for to prolong the agony.
The goal of the project is to build a new system in charge of wages calculation. The future system should include some additional functions like:
- a data warehouse;
- financial & individual simulation;
- an electronic documents management;
- a mass printing system;
- digital signature;
- etc.
At this point, it has given you the impression that it is a very exciting project. Except if, you consider there are some constraints like a current legacy application that some experts want to connect in a transactional way. (I'm not sure to be clear and comprehensive for this point.)
Nevertheless the main idea is to invoke a bourneshell script from a web page. There is no particular objection except that :
- this script should be launched about 240.000 per month;
- the computation time is about 2 seconds;
- the system has 500 active users;
- there are more than 50 I/O per script execution;
- ...
